It happens once, in his absence.
The bright hall rings, rings and midring
clicks back over into silence.
It leaves two isolated sighs,
her, momentarily frozen
before an ocean of blank space
that by nightfall she’ll come across
and save the other against the
backdrop of grey midnight
she came; loneliness wiped away,
tomorrow and forever
they will never forget this moment.
